Moving to New Hampshire
Welcome to New Hampshire! There are a few items to address before officially becoming a Granite Stater. This guide is designed to help new residents settle in by offering quick access to essential information like the state’s Demographics and Statistics, a look at New Hampshire’s Counties, and information about the Elected Officials who represent you. New residents to New Hampshire must obtain a NH Driver’s License within 60 days of establishing residence.
- All first time New Hampshire license applicants who are US Citizens and who hold a valid out-of-state driver's license may go to any DMV office and must bring proof of your identity and your NH residency for the type of driver license or non-driver identification card you are applying for (REAL ID compliant or non-compliant) and also must complete an Application For Driver License or Non-Driver ID Card (DSMV 450).
Registering a vehicle in New Hampshire is a two-part process.
- To register your vehicle in New Hampshire, you must first go to your town/city clerk's office to determine your residency and start your registration process. Once residency is determined by your town or city clerk, if you have the title of your vehicle or it is exempt from title you may process the entire transaction at your town or city clerk's office.
- The second part of the process is the state transaction; however, the Town/City Clerk may be a Municipal Agent of the State and may be able to complete the state transaction part of the registration process for an additional fee.
The NH office of Employment Security provides residents with free job search support, including career guidance, job-matching tools, workshops, and resources to help you build a successful career in New Hampshire.
