Health and Wellness Support for Veterans

New Hampshire offers a diverse array of veteran healthcare and wellness services, ranging from VA-run medical clinics and Vet Centers to community-based programs in mental health, therapeutic recreation, crisis prevention, recovery, and housing support. These services are well-distributed across the state, making help both accessible and holistic.

VA Medical Centers & Community-Based Clinics: The VA provides comprehensive healthcare across New Hampshire via both hospitals and outpatient clinics:

  • Manchester VA Medical Center: Main facility providing full-spectrum care, including primary, specialty, and mental health services. Intake: 603.624.4366 (or toll-free 800.892.8384).
  • Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs): Smaller, local clinics offering primary care and some specialty services in:
    • Conway, Keene, Littleton, Portsmouth, Somersworth, and Tilton.
    • These fall under the VA’s New England network.

Vet Center – Manchester: Provides confidential, no-cost counseling for veterans and their families, including:

  • PTSD, military sexual trauma (MST), deployment readjustment, and general mental health support.
  • Located at 1461 Hooksett Road, Suite B7, Hooksett, NH 03106.
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • After-hours support via Vet Center Call Center at 877.927.8387.

NH Veterans Suicide Prevention Coalitions: Operated with support from VA’s Community-Based Interventions programs, these coalitions offer suicide prevention training and community support:

Liberty House (Catholic Charities, Manchester): Supports veterans managing PTS (Post-Traumatic Stress) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) through a structured Four-Step recovery and independence program:

  • Recovery (counseling & support plans)
  • Health & wellness assistance (medical, dental, documentation)
  • Meaningful employment support
  • Transition to independence (housing, financial counseling)

Easterseals NH – Veterans Count & Military & Veterans Campus

Offers case management, emergency financial aid, and access to integrated wellness and support services.

Harbor Care – Veterans FIRST Programs: Provides integrated support including housing, case management, mental health outreach, and peer support:

  • Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF): Rapid re-housing aid to prevent homelessness.
  • Transitional Housing in Nashua & Manchester:

  • Boulder Point (Plymouth): Supportive housing for homeless veterans via HUD-VASH vouchers.
